【摘要】:Thesetestmethodscovertheperformanceofengineoilsintendedforuseincertaindieselengines.Theyareperformedinastandardizedhigh-speed,single-cylinderdieselenginebyeitherthe1K(0.4%fuelsulfur)or1N(0.04%fuelsulfur)procedure.Theonlydifferenceinthetwotestmethodsisthefuelused.Pistonandringgroovedeposit-formingtendencyandoilconsumptionaremeasured.Also,thepiston,therings,andthelinerareexaminedfordistressandtheringsformobility.ThesetestmethodsarerequiredtoevaluateoilsintendedtosatisfyAPIservicecategoriesCF-4andCH-4for1K,andCG-4for1NofSpecificationD4485.Thesetestmethods,althoughbasedontheoriginalCaterpillar1K/1Nprocedures,alsoembodyTMCinformationlettersissuedbeforethesetestmethodswerefirstpublished.Thesetestmethodsaresubjecttofrequentchange.Untilthenextrevisionofthesetestmethods,TMCwillupdatechangesinthesetestmethodsbytheissuanceofinformationletterswhichshallbeobtainedfromTMC(seeAnnexA15).ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Specificprecautionarystatementsappearthroughoutthetext.Beingenginetests,thesetestmethodsdohavedefinitehazardsthatshallbemetbysafepractices(seeonSafetyPrecautions).ThefollowingistheTableofContents:
